Personal Story
I love what I do but it wasn't always so in regards to my
healthy active lifestyle. It started over 15 years ago, I mean I had always been
active in some form or another, I have been learning and teaching Martial Arts
and mixed martial arts for over 22 years, served our country for 5 years and
enjoyed biking and hiking. But life had a hidden agenda; I was diagnosed with
cancer at age 25 and had an operation to remove the tumor and just after two
months I was diagnosed again with the same type of cancer, just that it had
attached to my lymph nods in my torso. So, after spending four months going in
and out of the hospital, the recovery period and periodical chemotherapy
treatments all this equaling about a year. I was left with an out of shape body
unable to perform simple feats such as walking up a single flight of stairs I
decided then it would be in my best interest to become more focused on my
lifestyle. At that point in my life I have yoyo'd from 280 lbs to 260 then after
the chemotherapy treatment was over, I ballooned to 300 lbs +. My life was a
wreck but as God would have it there where people in my life that encouraged me
to begin boxing lessons and power lifting. I refocused my energy on martial
arts, Thai boxing, and today hold a 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I took
a serious look at my exercise and nutritional habits and saw that they both
needed some adjustmentsyou can't have one without the other. I started to
educate myself, became a certified personal trainer and began teaching several
kickboxing classes through-out Nashville, TN. I had to eat healthier to maintain
my energy levels during the times I was teaching and this continued even after I
stopped teaching and began fitness management. Helping individuals change their
body and in that their outlook on how life can be more rewarding was
immeasurable. I'm proud to be a certified personal trainer it also means I get
to be a teacher. Mentor, and counselor and transform lives one person at a time.
I look forward to making some of those changes in you.
My personal advice for anyone looking to receive personal
training is to find the trainer with a niche in the area you are looking for and
maybe watch them with another client to see how the communicate with them and
see what their motivation type is.
My prior personal training experience includes over 13 years
in Tennessee. In total, I have over 20 years experience in the field.
